“Phenomenal work! Turned our favorite tree into several heirlooms! “
“Our very large American Elm died suddenly a year ago. This was one of the largest trees of its kind in the county and one of our favorite trees in the yard. Jim was recommended by our tree service as someone who might be able to help us turn it into something useable. We collect mid-century modern furniture and discussed with Jim making some benches that had a George Nakashima look to them. As soon as the tree was down (literally), Jim was there to haul the massive pieces away. The pieces were milled into big slabs and then slowly dried so they would be best preserved in Jim’s kiln for several months. After the drying process, we met with him to select pieces and design the project. He also met with us a few times during the project to be sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. It was a fun process! The finished product included 4 benches. We were elated and absolutely amazed when we saw them! They were exactly what we wanted in shape, size, and design. Jim really knows how to bring out the natural beauty of the wood! We can’t believe that such beautiful pieces were made out of our favorite tree in the yard. A happy ending to something that started out sad! He was also very resonable given the quality of both the product and the service. We can’t wait to start our next project and would recommend him to everyone looking for something beautiful and unique!”
“I Love My Table”
“After finding out that a very large oak tree on our property had to be removed due to disease I was very sad and didn’t want this beautiful old tree to become firewood. I found Jim and gave him a call to see what we could do with my tree and am very happy that I did. Jim was able to turn my oak into a rustic kitchen table and benches featuring a unique live edge design. I am not artistic but he was able to take my basic idea and turn it into something that I can use every day and is also truly a work of art. I was able to be involved in the process from the beginning to end and enjoyed visiting the sawmill and workshop and the whole experience of seeing the table and benches come together. We are already starting to work on ideas for our next piece of furniture. I love my table!”
